The best things in life aren’t things – which means that sometimes the best gifts we can give, don’t cost a cent. That’s why I’ve added some fun but thoughtful ideas for holiday gifts that you can create instead of buy:

  1. Create a photo tape with fun music. You can find help with free apps online and it’s easier than you think.
  2. Bake holiday cookies, a favorite pie or cook a delicious meal.

  4. Create your own Jeopardy pop knowledge game for a whole lot of family fun.
  5. Get crafty. Can you make homemade masks, a picture calendar, a natural body scrub?

  1. These are fabulous gift ideas, Ronni! I can think of quite a few people who would love some of these gifts. My favorites are the Kitchen Aid 5 cup food chopper, the Jo Malone Candle, and the sherpa throw blanket.

    1. Thank you, Diane. I love your choices too. After preparing dinner with the food chopper, can you see yourself sitting comfortably,in a candle lit room, with the throw wrapped around you?

  2. I love these posts, especially from organizers who have the “no extra stuff” mindset. I was just telling my husband that I think I need a new slow cooker. I love those glass storage containers. Glass is definitely back in style when it comes to food storage, and those are so fun:) Happy shopping!

    1. I’m definitely not one for more clutter. But who doesn’t love being showered with a gift(s) at holiday time or for a celebration?
Some of these might be considered necessary, some for pleasure and others for fun!

  3. Oooh. That reminds me that I once made a Jeopardy game using PowerPoint for a training class at work. I had the main screen on slide one and all the dollar values linked to other slides. I may make one for my family. I just Googled “Jeopardy PowerPoint Template” and a bunch of results came up. That will make it easier. Thanks for the idea!

    1. Wouldn’t it be fun to create a Jeopardy game where family members have to guess the answers to family trivia? I’d have a blast with that!

  4. You’ve made holiday shopping a lot easier for your readers! My favorites are the Corelle terrazzo plates and the meal planning pads. I recently did a series of blog posts on meal planning–those pads are perfect for taking meal planning out of the brain and onto paper. And those terrazzo plates would make a lovely hostess gift. No worries about a guest accidentally breaking one since Corelle is practically indestructible. If I had to choose a third–it would be the decorative Pyrex–it makes storing leftovers all the more fun!

    1. I wanted to offer a fun range of gifts, some are new, with a range of prices. I didn’t choose anything I wouldn’t buy myself.
I also love the Pyrex containers with fun motifs. And, everything Corelle.

  5. What a fun list of gift ideas, Ronni! I love scented candles, and that lime/basil/mandarin one you featured looks amazing. I can almost smell it. And for “free” gifts, I love the idea of creating a family Jeopardy game. Recently, my older daughter created a personalized Jeopardy game for her sister’s Zoom bridal shower. It was for the bride squad only, so I wasn’t part of it, but I heard about it. They had so much fun. It sounded epic.

This year will surely be different in so many ways, but it’s nice to begin thinking about the possibilities for the season.

    1. The lime/basil/mandarin scented candle
IS amazing. All of the scents from Joe Malone are. I never miss an opportunity to purchase one and it’s a great holiday gift for sure.
Homemade gifts and family fun are always winners.I thought of another one after I wrote the article. A Zoom sing-along!

  6. I appreciate how you included different price ranges without sacrificing quality. This list has some really unique ideas too. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Inspiration is so key. There might be something on my list that someone didn’t think of. It can be challenging to find the right gift for someone.
I wanted to give enough choices, in a wide price range, to appeal to a large audience. This was a fun piece to write.
