  1. Evaluating, gathering the lists, and shopping for school supplies was always my favorite part of the ‘pre’ school year. I loved doing it when I was a kid and helping our daughters when it was their turn. They loved it too. Before we’d shop, we would take an inventory of what we had and pair it with what we needed to create our shop list. I also remember going to several stores to find the exact type of notebooks and folders that our oldest preferred. I didn’t mind. I understood about having favorite products.

I don’t know what it is about new school supplies that I find so enticing and exciting. Even though I’m in no need of supplies, I couldn’t resist clicking on some of the links you supplied just to see the products. I love new markers with beautifully flowing ink. The best!

It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost over and that some kids have already headed back to school. Wow! But with your post, they’ll be well equipped to find the supplies they need.

    1. Linda,

There is definitely something magical about the back to school season. New fresh supplies, a new outfit for the first day of school. It’s a special moment in time. (Then homework, studying and tests.)
I also think it’s a fun getting organized without realizing you’re getting organized. It teaches children to be prepared and ready. Also, that being organized is very good thing.

  2. I no longer have anyone to do the back-to-school shopping for! Getting supplies was always a fun part of gearing up for school, although I will admit that it seemed to get more and more expensive, and the lines at stores became sort of a downer. I love that these ideas are readily available on Amazon.

One caution for shoppers: I learned the hard way that some teachers are very picky about what supplies kids use, so maybe wait to hear what they want. This is easy with Amazon since you get your stuff so quickly!

    1. Seana,

Everything does seem more expensive today. What I love about Amazon are their great deals. I always feel I’m getting a bargain.
I imagine teachers can be specific about what they want their students to have. You can’t go wrong though with the basics and any supplies that will make life easier such as scotch tape, glue, pens, crayons, etc.

  3. Great supplies for back to school! In my Eastern PA, Kohl’s now takes Amazon returns, so it is super easy to return things to Amazon. Thanks for sharing these amazing products. =)

    1. Sabrina,
Our local Staples store also takes returns from Amazon. They do make it easy and I’ve never had a problem with credits or returns. They always take full responsibility for any mixups.

  4. Ever since I was little I have loved back-to-school shopping! Something about fresh pens, pencils and crayons and getting organized for the new year just makes me happy. This is such a great list – thanks for sharing! 🙂

    1. Laura,
I’m with you! There was something ecstatic about fresh supplies-new pens and folders.
I also loved a new outfit for the first day of school. I can still remember my friend Betsy, we couldn’t have been more than 10 years old, was so excited about her new saddle shoes (which were big back then.) They were black and white and she was excited to pull out black tights to match. Those memories do stay with us.

  5. Shopping Amazon is a great idea. I used to hate school supply shopping – the crowds, the searching, and then not finding what you need. A lot of stress at the end of an exhausting first day of school. I wish we had Amazon back in the day.

    1. Janet,

Back to school shopping can be tough on parents but kids love it. I did as a child and my children too. It’s a time honored tradition.

Having said that, you can’t beat Amazon. They have everything at great prices and they deliver quickly. I have prime so there’s never a charge to send it home.

  6. This makes me so nostalgic for back to school shopping at the office supplies store as a kid. It’s quite different these days but I LOVE all your suggestions. I’m very excited for the fall and some cooler weather to go along with a bit more structure.

    1. Melanie,

Give yourself just a few more years and you’ll be in full swing with back to school shopping!! Then you’ll really feel nostalgic!

  7. My daughter popped into Target to pick up a notebook a couple days after her classes began. No big deal, just one with lined paper. It made me smile to think how different things are now. We no longer have to hunt down exactly the right pencil case, or load up on super specific supplies and fight our way through the long checkout lines. Online ordering has changed everything! If she were still in grade school, that’s where I’d do our back-to-school shopping for sure.

    1. Lucy,
Amazon makes ordering on line so easy. I’ve become a loyal customer. I don’t like problems and I don’t like hassles or inconvenience.
I have found amazing products there which is, I suppose why it’s called Amazon?

  8. Oh, this is such a fun post! Add me to the list of peeps who love shopping for school supplies, comparing each item on the list. But I’ve been trying to stay away from the stores since the onset of the pandemic, and especially now with Delta, which makes shopping via Amazon all the more idea. I don’t have any tiny humans, but there’s a lot of crossover between school supplies and office supplies. And now I want a Bentgo lunch box!

    1. Julie,
That Bentgo lunch box is amazing! These little humans today have it made. I grew up with the brown paper lunch bag. I really didn’t like when it got wet and I ended up with a big hole in the lunch bag less a wet tuna fish sandwich, apple and drink.
